UWEYV
Birthday: 2010 Gender: Mare Color: Tobiano Paint
“Uweyv” (Uh-way-uh) is the Cherokee word for “River.” A line from an old hymn comes to mind when we think of this mare’s name. “When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, It is well with my soul.” When this mare arrived here she was very friendly but a bit spoiled, emotional, and immature. “Peace” was not a word we would have used to describe her. However, as she has gotten to know who she is and what we expect of her in a variety of situations, she has become more respectful, generally eager to please, and increasingly more at peace. She isn’t a reliable riding horse yet, but she still brings a lot of hope and peace to ranch visitors in a variety of ways. Not only is she our go-to horse for pairing up with new horses at the ranch, she also gets used frequently for saddling practice, longeing practice, grooming practice (her favorite), and much, much more. Everyone loves her dramatic colors, and many people love to spend time with her on the ground. We are so glad she has found her own niche for bringing Jesus’ peace to hurting hearts so that no matter their situation they will be able to say, “It is well, It is well with my soul.”
